Named for its rock grouping, Horse Pens 40 features a ring of rocks, known as “pens,” which early settlers used to corral their horses. Horse Pens 40 features a museum with Native American and Civil War exhibits, six miles of hiking trails and a campground. Approximately 10 miles west of Gadsden, the park is set in a verdant forest among scenic rock outcroppings.
Open for day use 9:00 a.m. - sunset.
